London- Day 3
Another fine and sunny day although a little cooler in London today. An early start and "did" the London Tower when it opened. The Crown Jewels were especially spectacular. Interesting to learn of the history of the Tower including how exotic wild animals were kept there until the 1800s until a number of visitors were attacked! Then walked over the Tower Bridge and along the Thames to the "London Bridge Experience". This was good fun - a bit like a horror ghost train experience being scared by Dickens era characters in the dark dungeons. We then enjoyed a tour of Shakespeare's Globe theatre .... Our guide looked like Jim Carrey and was an actor - made the tour fun and interesting. Walked across the Millennium Bridge to St Paul's Cathedral on the other side of the Thames. Climbed up the 263 steps to the Whispering Gallery for a closer look at the Dome ceiling paintings. Walked back to the Tower and caught the last cruise back to Westminster then caught the packed tube back to our Bayswater apartment. A full day of attractions and sightseeing to make the most of our "London Pass" before we head off to Rome tomorrow.
