Day 24 - Gent to London

We enjoyed a late start after our busy day touring. Left Gent at 10.30am and drove to Lille about an hour away. We found the TGV station easily but finding where we had to drop the car off was more difficult. The railway station has 3 underground carparks .... we entered all of them before we found the right one. By this stage we didn't have to wait too long before going through Customs and getting on the Eurostar. The train was full and stopped once at Calais. The trip was uneventful lasting about 1.5 hours although French police did do a random check of everyone's tickets between Lille and Calais.
We arrived in London at the Kings Cross-St Pancras station about 2pm to sunshine. Walked to our accommodation and were able to book in and leave our bags there.
Then we decided to do some shopping and walked to Oxford and Regent streets. Visited a few shops including Hamleys toy store - a great store. On their 5th floor is a fantastic display of Lego including William and Catherine posing for their wedding and the Queen. We of course posed with them and then had a meal. By this time it was getting dark, so we continued walking to Piccadilly Circus which was lit up. Then walked back to our hotel very tired. Tomorrow we are off to Hampton Court Palace and hoping for more sunshine.
