Day 27 - Cornwall

We woke to a rainy, cold day. Enjoyed an English breakfast at the B&B and met Greg and Linda in Exeter for a coffee. Walked briefly around the town centre, seeing the Cathedral and Roman wall but the rain made sight-seeing difficult. We got back in the car and headed off to Cornwall. Tintagel was our first stop, going to see the supposed site of King Arthur's castle. But by this time, the rain and wind made it too cold to climb around cliffs, so we decided to have a Cornish pasty in the local Pub.
We then continued along the coastline to Port Isaac where Doc Martin is filmed. We did walk down into the harbor and saw some familiar sights from the TV series. Port Isaac is a small, pretty town with narrow streets not wide enough for cars. Looked in a few shops and saw photos of the main actors. By this stage we were cold and wet, so got back in the car and headed across to the other side of Cornwall. Drove through narrow lanes lined with high hedges that made it difficult to see around corners.
We visited the small village of St Cleer on the way and found a few Sibly gravestones in the local churchyard dating back to 1847. Found Siblyback Lake which is now an adventure water-park and then drove to Polperro.
By this time, the wind and rain had disappeared and the sun was setting. Our B&B was in the restricted zone where only residents are allowed to drive. Luckily there was enough turning space for our car and we were able to drive and park the car in the carpark ..... not an easy task in Devon and Cornwall.
Polperro is a beautiful harbor village, white buildings clustered around a tiny harbor with narrow, cobbled lanes. We walked around the town as the sun was setting, enjoying no crowds and no cars.
